It is with great sadness that I have to say...

Like many of you, I was under the misinformed impression that the National Theatre Iganmu, was modelled in form after the cap of a military officer; as in, that was the governing power in control at the time of its construction...

yeah look at it...

only to find out that the architects who were Bulgarian by the way simply replicated the design for a preexisting building in their country when the contract was given to them...

This is what you get when you by pass your own people in favour of foreign "expertise"...almost all of our( Nigerian) iconic buildings are done by foreigners...WTH?!!!!!!!

At last

picture from
It was with great relief and very little surprise that i came to the conclusion that a practising architect, I will not make nor desire to be. Yes, I have put myself through five years of gruelling work, head ache, heart ache and every other ache you can possible fathom. I have also gained priceless knowledge on the built environment and the effects of design on individuals, communities, psychologies, economies and policy. I am also committed towards sustainability because it is the only way to go...

Thus, I have begun the race towards my goal: securing myself an entry (but comfortable)position with a property development/investment company upon graduation.

Any suggestions? Connections?

BINGING ON HGTV and PLOTTING for HOME DEPOT

I am currently on an HGTV high and thinking to myself how one can do a home design show in naija without 1. inviting unwanted 'guests' (a.k.a armed robbers) to the homes of those featured and 2. turning it into a cliched rip off of the foreign programmes.

Also, I have been making plans for my move to my first apartment. I feel like it is time that I move off campus and start to live on my own. I think that if I really want to be responsible, I have to stand on my own two feet. I am contemplating some DIY projects for furnishings because I cannot presently afford the furnishings and accessories that are more to my style. I think, armed with some nail guns, staple guns, pre-cut pieces of wood, fabric and batting, I can transform any space into my own private getaway.
Till then, I invite you to salivate over these pieces that I want:

1. The overall look that I am going for

2. Places that I am going to look to for the means to recreate my looks:

Yeah, and then let's not forget all those beautiful extra expenses like cable, internet and phone...phew, it is exhausting being an adult.
Well, i will try and chronicle my journey as much as possible and bring you along...that is, the two of you who still stop by this blog.

Blog Revival

I am in summer school from now through till mid august. Thus, I should have enough material to revive this blog from its present disgraceful state of abandonment; not that anyone seems to care anyways. No one comes here anymore...or do they?
